About Us

Marcus and Ingrid have relocated from South Africa to Portugal during 2018, having acquired Paco de Pombeiro from the previous owners.

Liliana Vieira grew up in Pombeiro and has been involved in Paco de Pombeiro since the guesthouse was established in 2009.

The guesthouse is very intimate and we try our utmost to make our guests feel comfortable by providing personal attention whilst ensuring privacy.

The guesthouse is situated on a wine farm with 5 hectares of vineyards. Vinho Verde, which translates as ‘green wine’ or ‘young wine’, is produced on the farm, seeing that the quinta is located within the historic Vinho Verde region of Minho.

In addition, the farm and guesthouse falls under the municipality of Felgueiras and is very close to the city of Guimaraes which is known as the birthplace of Portugal (the first King of Portugal was born there).

We offer a range of services at the guesthouse. Amongst other things, Marcus loves off-road motorcycling and can organise off-road motorbike excursions for anyone interested. We are also steadily renovating to ensure that the guesthouse is constantly improving.

The guesthouse itself is partly old and partly modern which makes it quite unique. It has a tranquil country atmosphere with absolute serenity in the gardens.

There is a small forest and the house has a view of the vineyards. The farm produces its own wine in the tradition of the ‘Vinho Verde’ region in which it is situated.

The guesthouse can accommodate groups that are interested in pursuing workshops in creative writing and literature, art (drawing and painting), energy work (sound, reiki, kinesiology, touch for health, channeling) etc. It is perfect for small yoga and spiritual retreats or simply to get back in touch with Mother Nature.

These groups are arranged on request and we can cater for up to 20 people. Breakfast is included and other meals and snacks can be organised to cater for all dietary requirements if pre-arranged and for an additional charge.

The new part of the guesthouse has 6 rooms, 4 double rooms and 2 twin rooms, each with patio and private bathroom.

There is a family unit which can sleep up to 6 in the old farmer’s house and another suite in the Manor house. All rooms have a flat screen TV with satellite channels, air conditioning, a fridge, kettle and a coffee maker. The farmer’s house is used to serve breakfast and there is a kitchen for communal use as well.

Marcus enjoys his motorbikes both off and on road. He is happy to organise off road bike trips by prior arrangement. He believes this area offers the best possible riding conditions and the most beautiful scenery.

The guesthouse and its gardens are ideal for family reunions and functions, small weddings or even just as a breakaway from the normal routine and the hustle and bustle of city life.

We are proud to be animal friendly and guests are welcome to bring their four footed family members along by prior arrangement. Young families with children also enjoy the safe and natural environment.

Guests can relax next to the pool or stroll through the vineyards to the stream. Some guests love to come and assist in the harvest of the grapes.

The Monastery as well as a Roman bridge are both only a short walk to reach and the guesthouse has some bicycles which guests can use free of charge depending on availability.

The pool has a shallow child-friendly area and there is also a trampoline.

We serve a continental breakfast with seasonal fruit and cater for all alternative dietary requirements on prior arrangement. Breakfast is served in the modern lounge of the farmer’s house.
